Unconventional choreographer Maurice Bejart has set his own life story to the music by Tchaikovsky, with only a nodding reference to the familiar ‘Nutcracker’ narrative, in this live recording at the Theatre Musical de Paris. Damaas Thijs, Elisabet Ros, Gil Roman, Juichi Kobayashi and Yvette Horner dance the main roles, accompanied by the Bejart Ballet Lausanne and the Orchestre Colonne conducted by Edmon Colomer.
